Starting at $18 per hour
Position Overview:
The individuals who occupy this role will be asked to commit to working 16+ hours per week on Northwest Teambuilding, Bellevue Climbing Wall, and Bellevue Zip Tour programs when hours are available. The purpose of this role is to provide exceptional teambuilding programming, as well as climbing wall and zip tour experiences for Northwest Teambuilding clients.
Duties include creating program sequences and leading programs for youth to adult groups utilizing portable initiatives, low course elements, the Bellevue Challenge Course (including the Vertical Playpen and static high course), the Bellevue Zip Tour, Bellevue Climbing Wall and working at other programming sites as assigned.
Must be able to attend the following training dates:
May 24th-26th: In house Zip Tour/ Climbing Wall Training
May 30-June 1st: In House Challenge Course Training
June 7-10: 3rd Party Certification Training
Challenge Course Duties and Responsibilities:
· Facilitate Challenge Course Programs as both a Practitioner and Lead Practitioner.
· Planning, preparation and delivery of educational programming according to the group’s goals.
· Communicate directly with the program’s organizers and chaperones to ensure that their expectations are being met.
· Able to solely manage a group of 12 participants of youth and/or adults.
· Able to lead large group activities for groups as large as 120 people.
· Able to perform high course rescues & assists.
· Assumes the responsibility for what happens on the challenge course while in this role.
· Contacts the program staff ahead of time with the plan for the day, meeting time, and any other details.
· Checks in regularly with the program manager.
Zip Tour Duties and Responsibilities:
· Operate the Bellevue Zip Tour both Zip Send and a Zip Receive Roles.
· Able to independently operate braking protocol for yourself and clients.
· Able to entertain and engage participants throughout their entire zip tour experience.
· Able to perform participant and self-lowers from necessary platforms.
· Responsible for personal and participant life safety systems.
· Checks in regularly with the zip tour manager.
· Deliver relevant tour information to participants including environmental & cultural location specific facts.
· Use of registration software to monitor tour numbers.
Climbing Instructor Duties and Responsibilities:
· Operate the Bellevue Climbing Wall as a Climbing Instructor and General Belay Staff.
· Able to independently operate climbing protocols for yourself and clients.
· Able to entertain and engage participants throughout their entire climbing wall experience.
· Able to use tubular belay device as well as gri-gri.
· Responsible for personal and participant life safety systems.
· Checks in regularly with the challenge course and zip tour managers.
· Deliver relevant information to participants.
· Use of registration software to monitor climbing wall numbers.
- Responsible for running climbing camps, belay sessions, climbing classes and any other climbing wall activities as assigned.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
· Will follow Local Operating Procedures and supervise other staff in accordance with Local Operating Procedures.
· Must be able to work weekends.
· Must be able to attend all staff trainings and staff meetings.

· Ability to manipulate ropes, cables, hardware and other equipment used in setup, operation, and breakdown of courses.
· Able to initiate an Emergency Action Plan and fully understands their role in the process.
· Able to perform both visual and tactile inspections on courses and equipment.
· Able to read and complete written forms in clear penmanship and language.
· Reliable transportation to and from work.
· Must be able to check and respond to emails or other communication on a daily basis.
· Able to record incidents and/ or close calls via online forms effectively and in great detail.
· All other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
· Can lift up to 75lbs
· Able to work at height including but not limited to; climbing poles, nets, ladders, crossing challenge course elements, climbing wall, trees, at the highest point 85ft in the air
· Able to stand/walk/sit in a harness for an extended period of time
Minimum Required Education and Experience:
· First aid/ CPR or ability to attain within 60 days of employment
· High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education and Experience:
· Zip Guide, Challenge Course Facilitator, and or climbing instructor experience
Compensation:
$18/hr - $24/hr Depending on training, experience and certifications
Raises available within the first year based on hours worked and certifications attained
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
